Cassidy Kim

Cassidy Kim is an aspiring concept artist and recent graduate from the Savannah College of Art and Design. She enjoys creating sci-fi/fantasy characters in a variety of styles and specializes in dark, macabre art. Below we caught up with Cassidy to answer a few questions and learn some fun facts about her. Cassidy Kim was also featured in out first coloring book “The Calm after the Chaos”.

Explain your experience as a student at SCAD? And what you plan to do next?

Cassidy: Attending SCAD was a challenging but enlightening experience for me. I met a lot of like-minded artists that similar aspirations to my own. The projects were purposefully made to be challenging to prepare students for life after graduation. In the future, I would like to produce character and environment concept art for video games or movies.

Name one artist you look up to? Why?

I look up to Jim Henson, the esteemed puppeteer, filmmaker, and illustrator. He had a wide range of artistic skills and the designs he made for his fantasy films, Labyrinth and The Dark Crystal had a tremendous amount of influence on future fantasy media.

What inspired you to get into illustration?

Growing up, I always loved to draw and had a fascination with how characters in games and movies were designed. I wanted to eventually convey my own ideas by designing characters in a unique world where everyone would feel represented.

Which gaming system do you prefer, PlayStation or XBOX? Why?

My favorite platform for gaming is PC. Depending on the game, you can enhance graphics and customize your experience through mods.
